Original USGI M1942 first aid kit pouch with substitute standard style Carlisle bandage.
With all metals being critical war materials in shortage in 1942, the United States developed a new style of packaging for the Carlisle bandage. They did away with the famous metal tin and replaced it with a foil wrapped bandage in a cardboard outer box. The larger M1942 first aid kit pouch was developed alongside this as the new bandage did not fit in the older M1924 style pouch. This style continued to serve through the Korean War.
All pouches are used. Ink stamps may be illegible or post-war dated. Pouches will display wear, fading, and minor snags but will be free of major damage. All fasteners are intact and functional.
Bandages are unused but display a good bit of shelf wear and some dust.
